When comparing quotes between tradesmen and prices do you know what to look for when running a background check on a company? We know the difference between a certified tradesman and a cowboy and we want to make sure you know. Once you have run your checks you can feel confident knowing your property is in safe hands.
Check Company Insurance
Priority number one is to make sure the company is covered with public liability insurance in case someone is hurt on your property and check that the company is covered for damage to your home that may result in you hiring other tradesmen.
Simply ask for the insurance certificate and check that they are covered for the job in hand to give you peace of mind that they are covered.
Accreditation
When looking for a tradesman it is important the company is accredited which shows the standard of the work they complete showcasing they are a reputable company.
Here are just a few examples of accreditation for trades.
- Electrician – NICEIC
- Painters & Decorators – PDA
- Builder – FMB
rolex - Boiler installers – Worcester certified
Before accepting a quote we recommend asking for proof of any accreditation they hold.
Reviews
Read customer reviews about jobs they have completed if you see numerous 5 star reviews then you have the peace of mind knowing the reputation they have in your local area.
Check the date the ratings were provided, if the reviews go back a number of months then you can see the company has been founded a long period of time which again adds to the reputation.
